1. Introduction and Agreement
MapVG ("MapVG", "we", "us", or "our") is a map-to-SVG conversion tool that converts OpenStreetMap data into clean, layered SVG vector files for use in design, print, and fabrication workflows. MapVG is operated by JayDeeCo Limited, a company incorporated in New Zealand.
The MapVG website is available at mapvg.com. The MapVG application (the "App") – where map conversions are performed – is available at editor.mapvg.com and is accessible from desktop computers only.
By creating an account or using the App or any part of the MapVG service (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you by email to the address associated with your account, or by displaying a notice within the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use MapVG. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement. If you are using MapVG on behalf of a business or organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
The App is designed for use on desktop computers only and is not supported on mobile devices or tablets.
3. Accounts
3.1 Account Creation
To use the App, you must register for an account using a valid email address. You agree to provide accurate and current information during registration and to keep your account details up to date.
3.2 Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at hello@mapvg.com if you suspect any unauthorised access to your account. We are not liable for any loss arising from unauthorised account access resulting from your failure to keep credentials secure.
3.3 Account Suspension and Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or are using the Service in a way that may cause harm to MapVG, other users, or third parties. Where practical, we will give you reasonable notice before taking such action.
3.4 Credits on Termination
If your account is terminated by you, any unused credits remaining in your account will be forfeited and will not be refunded. If your account is terminated by us without cause, we will refund the value of any unused credits at the rate at which they were purchased.
4. Credits and Payments
4.1 Credit Packs
Access to the App’s paid conversion features is governed by a credit system. Credits are purchased in packs at the prices listed on the MapVG pricing page and within the App. Credits do not expire and will remain in your account until used or until your account is closed.
4.2 How Credits Work
Each map-to-SVG conversion consumes one (1) credit, unless displayed otherwise within the App. A credit is deducted at the point of conversion – not at the point of download. Once a conversion has been processed, the credit is consumed regardless of whether the resulting file is subsequently downloaded.
Map areas of 1 km² or less may be converted and downloaded at no credit cost. Free conversions may be subject to usage limits to prevent abuse, and these limits may change at any time.
Each paid conversion is limited to a single map area of up to 2,000 km² (about 772 mi²), measured by the bounding box you select in the App. Conversions for areas exceeding this limit cannot be processed. The maximum area may be displayed within the App and may be updated from time to time.
4.3 Payments and Pricing
All base prices are displayed in United States Dollars (USD). Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, which acts as the Merchant of Record for all transactions. Dodo Payments handles payment processing, tax collection, and compliance on behalf of MapVG. MapVG does not store your payment card details. Charges will appear as DODOPAY_MAPVG on your bank or card statement.
Depending on your location, prices may be displayed in your local currency using real-time exchange rates. Prices displayed exclude local taxes. Where applicable, local taxes (including VAT, GST, or sales tax) will be calculated and added automatically at checkout based on your billing address. Dodo Payments, as Merchant of Record, is responsible for collecting and remitting applicable taxes.
We reserve the right to change credit pack pricing at any time. Price changes will not affect credits you have already purchased.
4.4 Refund Policy
All credit purchases are generally final and non-refundable. Credits are digital goods delivered to your account immediately upon successful payment. By completing a purchase, you expressly consent to immediate delivery and, where applicable, acknowledge the loss of any statutory right of withdrawal (see our Refund Policy for full details on EU/EEA distance-selling rights).

4.5 Failed Payments
If a payment fails, your credit balance will not be updated. You will receive a notification and may attempt the purchase again. MapVG is not responsible for failed payments caused by your bank, card issuer, or payment method.
4.6 Discretionary Credit Adjustments
Our support team may, at our sole discretion, add credits to your account as a goodwill gesture in response to a support enquiry, a reported issue with an export, or any other circumstance we consider appropriate.
We also reserve the right to remove or adjust credits from your account at our discretion, including where credits were added in error, as a result of a system fault, or where we reasonably believe credits have been obtained through abuse of the Service or misuse of our support processes. Where practical, we will notify you before or promptly after any such adjustment.
Discretionary credit adjustments are not an entitlement and do not constitute an admission of fault or liability. They do not affect your rights under this agreement or under applicable consumer protection law.
5. Exports, Licences, and OSM Attribution
5.1 Licence Grant to You
When you generate a conversion using the App, we grant you a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use the exported SVG file for both personal and commercial purposes, including in client work, printed materials, digital publications, and physical products such as laser-cut items or merchandise.
This licence does not transfer ownership of the MapVG platform, its codebase, processing pipeline, or any proprietary elements. You are licensed to use the output, not the underlying tool.
5.2 OpenStreetMap Attribution Requirement
The App’s exports are generated from OpenStreetMap data, which is made available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). Exports constitute “Produced Works” under the ODbL, and are subject to the following attribution requirement:
You must include a visible credit to OpenStreetMap in any work where a MapVG export is published, distributed, or publicly displayed. The required credit is:

This credit should be placed in a reasonably visible location – for example, in the margin, footer, or metadata of a design, or in the product description of an item listed for sale.
MapVG is not responsible for any licence breach arising from your failure to include this attribution. By using our exports, you accept responsibility for complying with the ODbL attribution requirement.

5.3 Data Completeness and Edge Cases
Exports are generated from OpenStreetMap® community data. While OSM data is generally high quality, MapVG makes no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or currency of the data in any given area.
In some cases, map features in the OSM database may be tagged in ways or formats that cause them to be omitted by MapVG’s SVG generation pipeline. As a result, exported SVG maps may not include every feature visible in the MapVG editor. MapVG exports do not include road or street name labels.
We regularly test our pipeline across map areas worldwide and continuously work to improve accuracy, but we cannot guarantee the completeness of every map location globally. You are responsible for verifying that an export meets your requirements before use in critical or safety-sensitive applications.
If you notice missing or unexpected data in an export, you can contact us at hello@mapvg.com or submit an issue report within the editor. Our team will aim to investigate the issue, use your feedback for product improvement, and (if applicable) aim to provide an acceptable outcome. We may issue additional credits to your account at our discretion. Refunds for incomplete exports are handled in accordance with our Refund Policy.
6. Acceptable Use
By using MapVG, you agree that you will not:
- Use any automated means (scripts, bots, crawlers, or similar) to trigger conversions in bulk, circumvent rate limits, or harvest data from the Service;
- Attempt to extract, reconstruct, or redistribute the underlying OpenStreetMap database or any derivative database from the App’s outputs;
- Resell, sublicense, or otherwise redistribute access to the MapVG platform or your account credentials to third parties;
- White-label or represent MapVG as your own product without our express written permission;
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise access the proprietary methods or systems underlying the App;
- Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law, including intellectual property law, privacy law, or any export controls;
- Upload, transmit, or introduce any malware, harmful code, or anything designed to disrupt or compromise the Service;
- Engage in any activity that places unreasonable load on our infrastructure or interferes with other users’ access to the Service.
Accounts exhibiting unusual conversion patterns that suggest abuse may be reviewed and, where appropriate, suspended pending investigation. We will make reasonable efforts to contact you before taking action.
7. Intellectual Property
7.1 MapVG’s IP
All intellectual property in the MapVG platform – including its software, codebase, processing methods, UI design, branding, and documentation – is owned by JayDeeCo Limited. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership of MapVG’s IP to you.
7.2 OpenStreetMap Data
OpenStreetMap data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and is made available under the Open Database Licence. MapVG operates as a licensed user of this data. We make no claim of ownership over OSM data.
7.3 Your Exports
You retain full ownership of the creative works you produce using MapVG exports. We do not claim any rights over your designs, products, or publications.
8. Service Availability, Outages, and Third-Party Dependencies
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access to the App or any other part of the Service. Scheduled maintenance, infrastructure issues, or circumstances beyond our control may result in downtime.
MapVG relies on a number of external services – including third-party infrastructure, data providers, and payment processors – for the editor and SVG generation pipeline to function correctly. Disruptions to these external services may affect the availability or output quality of MapVG, including failed or incomplete conversions. We are not liable for any loss, inconvenience, or damage arising from outages or disruptions caused by third-party services, whether planned or unplanned.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. Where a change is material and not caused by an emergency, we will provide reasonable advance notice.
We may modify export limits (including the maximum map area) where necessary for performance, infrastructure, or product reasons. Where practicable, we will provide reasonable notice of material changes.
In the event of a failed or significantly affected conversion caused by a service error or outage on our part or on the part of a third-party service we rely on, we will endeavour to assist affected users. This may include restoring credits consumed by a failed conversion or issuing additional credits at our discretion. We do not guarantee a specific remedy in all outage scenarios, and any assistance provided is at our sole discretion.
9. Limitation of Liability
The SVG files generated by MapVG are derived from OpenStreetMap® community data and are intended for design, print, and fabrication purposes only. They are not surveyed maps and must not be used for navigation, wayfinding, emergency response, engineering, construction, legal boundary determination, or any other purpose where map accuracy could affect safety, health, property, or legal rights.
MapVG makes no warranty, express or implied, as to the accuracy, completeness, currency, or fitness for any particular purpose of any map export or any other output of the Service. You are solely responsible for verifying that any export meets the requirements of your intended use before relying on it.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
- MapVG and JayDeeCo Limited shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, incidental, special, or punitive damages, including loss of profit, loss of data, or business interruption, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages;
- MapVG and JayDeeCo Limited shall not be liable for any loss, injury, death, damage to property, financial loss, or any other harm arising directly or indirectly from your use of, or reliance on, any map export or any other output of the Service, including but not limited to harm arising from inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or missing map data;
- MapVG’s and JayDeeCo Limited’s total liability to you for any claims arising under or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Service will not exceed the total amount you paid to MapVG in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or equivalent consumer protection legislation in your jurisdiction.
10. Privacy
Your use of MapVG is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Third-Party Services
MapVG uses third-party services in the delivery of the platform, including for payment processing, hosting, infrastructure, and geographic data. These third parties operate under their own terms and privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, which acts as the Merchant of Record for credit purchases. Dodo Payments handles payment processing, tax collection, compliance, and related customer communications. By completing a purchase, you agree to Dodo Payments’ terms of service and privacy policy. MapVG does not store or have access to your full payment card details.
MapVG is not responsible for the availability, conduct, or data practices of any third-party service providers.
12. Termination
12.1 Termination by You
You may close your account at any time by navigating to your account settings within the App, selecting “Delete Account”, and following the steps provided. Upon closure, your account data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Any unused credits will be forfeited and will not be refunded.
12.2 Termination by Us
We may terminate or suspend your account with immediate effect if you breach these Terms in a material way. For less serious breaches, we will generally give you notice and an opportunity to remedy the issue before taking action.
12.3 Effect of Termination
On termination, your right to access and use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination – including clauses relating to intellectual property, limitation of liability, and governing law – will continue to apply.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
If you have a concern or dispute, we encourage you to contact us first at hello@mapvg.com so we can try to resolve it informally before any formal proceedings.
14. General
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and MapVG with respect to your use of the Service.
